What is a DTC?
In the car there are several control units that controls different parts of the car, for example the engine, ABS, airbag, transmission, climate control etc. When a control unit discovers that something is wrong with the car, it indicates a DTC. The DTC can then be checked by connecting a diagnosis equipment to the diagnostic outlet of the car. The malfunction can also be indicated on the dash board in the form of a warning lamp. There are thousands of different DTCs and each DTC describes specific malfunctions in the car.
